Earliest documented public appearance: naval officer’s published class description
Earliest supported public appearance found in the sources reviewed for this research; not a claim of the first-ever announcement or original unveiling. Earlier evidence may revise this date. Captain Engevall’s March 1999 Proceedings article describes the named class. This predates the August 1999 order release found in the previous pass.

Order for two additional Visby-class corvettes announced
Celsius announced an FMV order for two additional corvettes and said six were then on order. These are contemporary order quantities, not a claim about the eventual fleet. The release establishes public use of the class name before the lead ship’s 2000 launch, not its first unveiling.
