About MK 54 Fleet Exercise Section
The MK 54 Fleet Exercise Section replaces the torpedo's live warhead with a recoverable exercise and recovery assembly for U.S. Navy anti-submarine warfare training. Karman developed it and in July 2026 won a $21.3 million Northrop Grumman contract to move from proof of demonstration to proof of manufacture ahead of low-rate initial production.
