About NASA Ames Research Center

NASA Ames Research Center's capabilities include aerodynamics, thermodynamics, simulation and life sciences. Publicly described research infrastructure includes wind tunnels, supercomputing, atmospheric-entry testing and flight simulation. Ames applies these facilities to questions ranging from aircraft performance to spacecraft entry and scientific data analysis, and works with industry and academic partners. It is a NASA field center, distinct from the Department of Energy’s Ames National Laboratory in Iowa. Federal civil-service opportunities are advertised through NASA recruiting; contractor and partner roles have separate employers.
