Backed by leading investors and powered by a team of passionate, forward-thinking engineers, builders, and operators, we’re now scaling from a breakthrough prototype to full production - and building the team to make it happen. Role Overview In this role, you'll lead and grow the team responsible for the software closest to the mission itself — what the crew touches, what the vehicle decides, and what the vehicle tells us. As Manager, Mission Software , you'll own that domain end to end across every REGENT vehicle program, building the team and the software foundation that turn a Seaglider from hardware into a system a crew can safely operate and a company can learn from. The scope spans four connected areas. Crew and cabin systems software covers cockpit displays and crew alerting, audio, environmental control, and the doors, lighting, and cabin systems people interact with directly. Mission and autonomy applications covers mission, vehicle, and route management, and the vehicle-side interface our autonomy stack plugs into. Test and ground systems covers instrumentation, telemetry, the ground station our test crews work from, and the data lifecycle that turns a test day into engineering answers. And the vehicle software platform and operations covers vehicle health monitoring, data management and streaming, communications, and how software gets released, deployed, monitored, and updated on a vehicle. You'll lead this across programs at very different stages at the same time: prototypes flying and testing today, and our first certified production vehicle, where the crew interface carries a formal design assurance level and the evidence burden that comes with it. Success means a team and a software foundation that serve both realities at once — fast iteration where we're still learning, and the rigor and traceability certification demands where it counts. If you've built and led software teams before, and you want the challenge of owning the systems a crew depends on for a brand-new category of transportation, this is the role for you! What You'll Do Build the group. Propose the structure, hire the experts each area needs, and develop them once they're here. Set the standards and ownership boundaries the group works to. This is the mandate, not a side effect of it. Stay hands-on where it counts. Review the code and systems your team ships, and write them when that's what the situation calls for. This is the part of the job that shrinks as the team grows, and it does not shrink to zero. Set direction across the four areas. Decide what gets built once and reused, what diverges by vehicle, what we deliberately don't build yet, and which area gets your attention in a given quarter. Match rigor to criticality. Certification-grade evidence and review discipline on crew-facing software, fast iteration where iteration is what wins, and release and deployment mechanisms that suit each. Carry the crew interface to certifiable. Work with our certification team to take cockpit displays from prototype to safety-rendered flight software, and own the evidence that comes with it. Support test operations. Your team is on console when the vehicle is operating, and the standard is a test day turned into engineering answers inside 24 hours. Integrate across the vehicle. Partner with controls, embedded, simulation, autonomy, systems engineering, and test so the group's work lands as one coherent contribution rather than four disconnected ones. What You'll Bring Leadership experience. A proven track record building software for vehicles, operational systems, or test programs, including demonstrated experience leading engineers as a manager or technical lead. Delivery accountability. You've owned what a team ships — scoping work into milestones, driving it to completion, and handling the people problems that surface along the way rather than routing them upward. Hiring and retention track record. You've defined roles, run loops, made the calls, and kept good engineers. Growing this group is a large part of the job. Depth and breadth. Deep expertise in at least one of our four areas, with enough fluency across the rest to set direction and review work credibly. Real hands-on strength. Strong C++ design and coding, plus Python for tooling, automation, and analysis. You'll be contributing code, not only reviewing it. Regulated-context delivery. You've shipped software under aerospace, automotive, space, or comparable design assurance obligations, and you know what those obligations do to a schedule. Experience with DAL-classified software is a plus. Operational experience supporting real vehicles or live test campaigns. Technical foundation in computer science, software engineering, robotics, or a related discipline — however you built it, whether through a degree or equivalent hands-on experience. Bonus Experience DO-178C display software or safety-rendering overlay experience; crew alerting systems; cabin or vehicle systems software. Autonomy or mission-planning integration; flight test instrumentation and telemetry practice; ground control station development for un-crewed or remotely operated vehicles. Publish/subscribe middleware (DDS or similar); over-the-air update and fleet software deployment; time-series data platforms and visualization; vehicle health management. Maritime or classification-society exposure; standing up software process from scratch at a small company. Backed by leading investors and powered by a team of passionate, forward-thinking engineers, builders, and operators, we’re now scaling from a breakthrough prototype to full production - and building the team to make it happen. Role Overview REGENT is scaling from prototype Seagliders to Viceroy, our first certified production vehicle — and software is the connective tissue of every one of them. In this role as Staff Software Engineer , you will set software technical direction across REGENT's vehicle programs: the architecture patterns, engineering standards, and certification strategy that current vehicles and every future program draw on. On Viceroy, that means delivering the avionics software architecture as a whole — partitioning and redundancy, inter-subsystem interfaces and timing budgets, and the certification approach that turns a novel vehicle's software into an approvable one. This is a principal-level individual contributor role reporting directly to the Director of Software Engineering. You will work across integrated product teams, partner with each program's chief engineer on architecture and design reviews, and take on named program leadership assignments as the work demands. You will lead through architecture decisions, standards, and mentorship rather than an org chart — and you'll stay hands-on: this role designs, writes, and proves flight-critical software, not just diagrams. If you’re energized by working at the intersection of cutting-edge innovation, real-world impact, and hands-on engineering, you’ll be in the right place - and we’d be thrilled to have you on the team! What You'll Do Set software technical direction: architecture patterns, engineering standards, and certification approach built for reuse across programs. Own avionics software architecture: time/memory partitioning, criticality segregation, redundancy management and failover, inter-subsystem interfaces, and timing budgets — documented through a standing architecture decision practice. Partner across integrated product teams: the senior software voice on architecture compliance, interface control, and design reviews with each program's chief engineer. Drive the software certification strategy: plans, processes, and evidence across criticalities; lead staged reviews with classification-society and flag-state authorities through to approval, including serving as a program's named software certification lead. Lead software system integration: interface control across hardware and software, SIL/HIL campaigns on representative hardware, and vehicle-level integration milestones that produce certification evidence. Stay hands-on: design, implement, and verify flight-critical modules yourself. Establish standards and mentor: run design and code reviews; mentor senior engineers across teams. Qualify tools and supplier software: select and qualify development and verification tools; govern SOUP/COTS acceptance and supplier evidence. Advise engineering leadership on software architecture, certification risk, and build-vs-buy. What You'll Bring Industry expertise in safety-critical avionics: full-lifecycle RTCA DO-178C (ideally DAL A/B) — planning through verification and certification liaison. Vehicle-level architecture ownership on at least one aircraft, eVTOL, or UAS program. A certification track record: authored or owned core plans (PSAC/SDP/SVP-class), carried staged authority reviews to closure, engaged authorities directly in technical argumentation. Partitioned, redundancy-managed systems expertise: scheduling and WCET, voting and monitoring, health management, inter-processor communication. Strong embedded C/C++ on RTOS or bare metal. Deterministic avionics networking: ARINC 664/AFDX, TTP, CAN, DDS or equivalent; bandwidth/latency budgeting; interface control across redundant channels. Systems engineering fluency: requirements decomposition, interface control, hazard and criticality flowdown. Bonus: MATLAB/Simulink/Embedded Coder; multi-program technical direction; chief-engineer or deputy-CE experience; autonomy or flight-management (FMS, RNP, DAA); RTCA/EUROCAE participation; DO-330/DO-331; maritime or classification-society exposure; remote operations / ground control systems; standing up software process from scratch at a small company. Who We're Looking For Technical Leader: You set technical direction while staying close enough to the work to know whether it holds up in practice. You make thoughtful architectural decisions with integration, testing, safety, and certification in mind — and measure a good architecture by how well it performs in the real system, not how elegant it looks on paper. Collaborative Force Multiplier: You make the engineers and teams around you better. You lead through technical judgment, evidence, standards, and mentorship rather than authority, building alignment across teams while respecting the ownership of the engineers and technical leads you work with. Safety & Systems Mindset: You think about how software will be tested, verified, and ultimately proven safe from the beginning. You design for verifiability rather than treating it as something to address later, and understand how software architecture, requirements, interfaces, testing, and evidence come together to support a credible safety and certification case. Creative Problem Solver: You’re comfortable tackling complex technical problems where the path forward isn’t already defined. You break ambiguity into tractable decisions, identify the highest-risk assumptions early, and create enough technical clarity for teams to move forward without pretending every question has already been answered. Adaptable & Agile: You’re energized by the challenge of building and certifying a new category of vehicle where the technology, requirements, and certification approach are evolving together. You can operate effectively through uncertainty, adapt as new information emerges, and balance long-term architectural thinking with what the team needs to build and prove today. If you’re ready to take on an exciting challenge, grow with us, and make a lasting impact, we want to hear from you. Even if you don’t meet every requirement, but you see yourself contributing to our mission, we encourage you to apply! We're not just building vehicles, we're creating a new category of transportation: the Seaglider. These groundbreaking wing-in-ground-effect craft travel just above the water’s surface, combining the speed of an airplane with the low operating costs of a boat. Capable of 180 miles at 180 mph on today's battery tech (and up to 400 miles with next-gen batteries), Seagliders will unlock fast, affordable, and sustainable coastal transit for passengers and cargo - connecting cities, islands, and communities like never before. Backed by leading investors and powered by a team of passionate, forward-thinking engineers, builders, and operators, we’re now scaling from a breakthrough prototype to full production - and building the team to make it happen. Role Overview REGENT is building a new category of vehicle, and bringing Seagliders to market will require more than great technology. It will require strong partnerships across government, a policy environment that understands what we're building, and a clear strategy for how REGENT engages at the federal level on the transportation aspects of our business. We're looking for a Director of Government Relations - Regulatory to own REGENT's federal government relations strategy related to Seaglider certification and operations, deepen relationships across Congress and the executive branch, and help position REGENT as a trusted voice in emerging transportation policy. You'll work closely with leaders across the company to set our government relations agenda, advise leadership on where and how REGENT should engage, and build understanding and support for a technology that doesn't fit neatly into existing frameworks. You'll have the opportunity to shape REGENT’s approach while personally driving the relationships and advocacy that matter most. If you've built credibility in government, know how to turn relationships into meaningful business and policy outcomes, and are energized by the opportunity to help shape the landscape around a technology and industry that didn't exist before, we'd love to meet you. What You’ll Do Lead Regulatory Government Relations: Own REGENT's federal government relations work supporting Seaglider certification, regulation, and operations — building and strengthening relationships across Congress, the executive branch, and relevant federal agencies and focusing our engagement on the policy and regulatory priorities that can advance a clear path to market. Advance Regulatory & Policy Priorities: Lead REGENT's government engagement with DHS, U.S. Coast Guard, DOT, and FAA on the regulatory and policy frameworks that will govern how Seagliders are certified and operated. Build the relationships and coalitions needed to help advance a clear path for this new vehicle category. Drive Federal Funding & Program Support: Engage in federal authorization and appropriations processes - including FAA reauthorization, U.S. Coast Guard authorization, and transportation appropriations — to advocate for funding, programs, and other federal support that can accelerate Seaglider certification and operations. Shape the Policy Environment for Seagliders: Build understanding and support for a category that doesn't fit neatly into existing frameworks. Translate complex technology into clear, compelling policy narratives and bring together customers, industry partners, trade associations, and other stakeholders who can strengthen REGENT's advocacy. Partner closely with REGENT's lobbyists to advance legislative priorities. Advise Leadership: Serve as a trusted government relations advisor to REGENT senior leadership - helping determine where REGENT should engage, how we use our time and political capital, and how leaders should approach high-stakes government meetings and external engagements. Partner Across the Company: Work closely with Business Development, Marketing, Engineering, Manufacturing, Legal, and leadership to connect government relations to company strategy, defense growth, regulatory priorities, and external communications - bringing the right internal expertise into government engagement at the right time. What You’ll Bring Active Federal Network: You have real, current relationships on the Hill and across relevant transportation executive branch agencies — people who know you, take your calls, and trust your credibility. You can bring an established network to REGENT while continuing to expand it around the company's priorities. Transportation Regulatory Experience: You've worked directly with DHS/U.S. Coast Guard, DOT/FAA, and/or other relevant federal agencies on regulatory or policy matters. You understand how agencies operate and know how to navigate rulemaking, policy, and regulatory processes to create a path for novel technology. Authorization & Appropriations Fluency: You understand how federal authorization and appropriations processes actually work — including FAA reauthorization, U.S. Coast Guard authorization, and DOT/transportation appropriations cycles. You know how to connect those processes to funding, policy, and program opportunities that can advance REGENT's certification and operational priorities. Emerging Technology Advocacy: You've built credibility for a company, technology, or industry that didn't fit neatly into an existing policy framework. You know how to translate something complex and unfamiliar into a compelling case for policymakers and help shape the conversation as government catches up with innovation. Political & Executive Judgment: You know that access alone isn't strategy. You can read the political landscape, understand competing interests and reputational considerations, and advise senior leaders on where to engage, how to show up, and when the smartest move may be not to engage at all. Who We’re Looking For Collaborative Team Player: You see government relations as a lever for advancing company priorities, not an end in itself. You understand how GR connects to regulatory strategy and the company's long-term growth, and you build strong relationships across the company to focus our efforts where they can have the greatest impact. Creative Problem Solver: You’re comfortable navigating problems without an obvious playbook. You can look at a complicated political or policy landscape, understand the stakeholders and competing interests, and find creative paths to advance REGENT’s priorities — especially when the technology or policy question doesn’t fit neatly into an existing framework. Adaptable & Agile: You’re comfortable operating in an environment where political dynamics, funding opportunities, and company priorities can change quickly. You know when to move quickly, when to play the long game, and when new information means the strategy needs to change — without losing sight of the broader objective. Innovative Mindset: You’re energized by the opportunity to help government understand and engage with something genuinely new. You challenge conventional approaches, look for new ways to build support and credibility, and think creatively about how policy, partnerships, and government engagement can help create the conditions for REGENT and the Seaglider category to succeed.
