Bauxite and alumina refining
Alumina refineries processing bauxite (Bayer process), whose liquors and residues are the main host for gallium recovery.
Constraint
Why supply is constrained
Gallium can only be recovered economically where alumina refineries add recovery circuits. Most such circuits are in China; new ones are planned at Alcoa's Wagerup refinery, Rio Tinto's Quebec operations and in bauxite residue (ElementUSA).
