About Ingalls Shipbuilding

Ingalls Shipbuilding designs, builds and maintains U.S. Navy surface combatants and amphibious ships and undertakes modernization work. HII’s current company overview identifies multiple ship classes under construction, Zumwalt-class modernization and frigate lead-yard support activity. Ingalls combines ship design, module fabrication, assembly, outfitting and systems integration with lifecycle support. It is distinct from HII’s Newport News nuclear shipyard and Mission Technologies services business. Ship-class programs can involve multiple builders; HII parent totals and Ingalls division activity therefore should not be added together. Its hiring spans welding, shipfitting, electrical work, engineering and production support.
