Digital conversion reuses existing guns and software

The Army integrated the M119A3 package onto M119A2 guns and reported approximately $7M in code-development savings from M777A2 software reuse. Savings are not an R&D budget or acquisition price.

Modernization funding covers several components

The budget includes radios, fire-control computing, positioning and installation work. A modernization unit figure should not be ranked as the cost of a complete artillery system.
