Remotely piloted and autonomous aircraft for reconnaissance, cargo and other missions.
Case for · why it matters
Drones have become the dominant tactical weapon and sensor in Ukraine, and the U.S. is trying to field attritable uncrewed aircraft in the thousands. Low cost lets commanders accept losses that would be unacceptable for crewed aircraft.
Case against · the skeptic’s view
Venture-backed startups still win a small share of DoD procurement, so many new drone makers may not reach production scale. Jamming and the speed of countermeasure cycles shorten the useful life of any one design.
