About

The Suite of Integrated Infrared Countermeasures combines the Common Missile Warning System (CMWS, AN/AAR-57), which detects a missile homing on the host aircraft and warns the crew, with the Advanced Threat Infrared Countermeasures system (ATIRCM, AN/ALQ-212), which for the Army adds active directional countermeasures using an arc lamp and laser. After 16 years of service, including protection of the CH-47F Chinook, the Army has fully divested ATIRCM.
